Makaila began playing piano and composing her own music at the age of four, inspiring a lifelong passion for music. In addition to piano, she studied clarinet for eight years, developing a well-rounded musical foundation and appreciation for ensemble performance. She is currently studying Music at the University of Guelph while pursuing her ARCT Diploma. Recently awarded the Beginning Organ Scholarship by the Royal Canadian College of Organists, Makaila is excited to continue expanding her musical knowledge and performance experience as an organist.
As both a performer and educator, Makaila has spent the past five years accompanying choirs, vocalists, and instrumentalists in examinations, recitals, rehearsals, and concerts. She recently performed as the principal keyboardist and synthesizer player for the University of Guelph’s 2026 production of Into the Woods and will serve as an Assistant Music Director for Guelph’s 2027 production of Mean Girls. Makaila is passionate about creating engaging, supportive lessons that help students build confidence, develop strong musical foundations, and foster a lifelong love of music.
