Ioanna Solomatina studied violin, musical theory, and composition at the Vincent d’Indy music school in Montreal, as well as at the École des Jeunes program of the Université de Montréal music department. Years later, she developed a passion for folk and bluegrass, as well as Irish and Canadian fiddle music. Ioanna is a member of the Guelph Celtic Orchestra, under the direction of award winning fiddler Fiona McCairley. As a teacher, Ioanna believes in an individualized approach which allows beginner students to develop optimal technique and to cultivate their musical ability, while discovering different genres such as classical, fiddle, rock, and pop.
