Having been a student at JamSchool for 7 years, Thomas has been excited to join the staff community for a long time. While Thomas began his musical studies on guitar at the age of five, he quickly took a liking to several other instruments. He is classically trained in piano, voice, and music theory, and also has experience performing on bass guitar, drums, upright bass, ukulele, and saxophone.
He has also taken a liking to arrange choral scores of popular pieces, and his arrangements have been featured at Guelph Storm hockey games and other locations. Thomas has been a part of many musical groups. He is one half of the singer-songwriter folk duet Zach and Thomas, and a bass singer in JamSchool’s a cappella group, Feedback. He also has experience in rock, pop, and jazz ensembles. Thomas has performed at many venues and festivals in the Guelph area, notably Hillside Festival, Hillside Inside, Guelph Multicultural Festival, GAIN Music Festival, Sing! Festival, Inspiration Guelph, Music Works Stage Works, and has received first place and gold standard awards at the Guelph Kiwanis Festival. He was also awarded Snapd’s Volunteer of the Month award for raising money for charity by busking, and has been the drummer in the hit musical 13! The Musical.
When Thomas is not playing music, he can often be found on the ski slopes, canoe tripping, or promoting a sustainable environment and society. He is also studying to become a scientist, in addition to pursuing his musical education.
